After Last Week’s Heatwave, Winter Returning To Eretz Yisrael


To the astonishment of many, following last week’s sharav heatwave, which brought hot and dry conditions on Lag B’Omer and Erev Shabbos, winter is returning once again. There was a brief shower in Yerushalayim on Friday night, and temperatures dropped significantly from the high 80s Fahrenheit to the mid-seventies.

Sunday midday, the temperature in the capital was 79F (26C). The forecast shows 60% rain for Monday, including winds and thundershowers, with temperatures dropping to 70F in Jerusalem.

The temperature for Tuesday is predicted to be in the sixties, then climbing to low seventies with a 30% chance of rain on Wednesday. the forecast also shows 40% chance of rain for Shabbos.

Many of the elders of Yerushalayim responded to YWN-ISRAEL’s query regarding the weather, and the Yerushalmim explain they do not remember this much rainfall in Iyar ever before.
