Hadera Mayor And Three Senior City Officials Arrested In Corruption Probe

Hadera Mayor Tzvika (Tzvi) Gendelman was arrested from police of the Israel Police 433 Major Crimes Unit on Monday, 21 Sivan, along with three senior City Hall officials. The arrests came following a comprehensive investigation into alleged corruption involving fraud, breach of trust, tax offenses and bribery. Police simultaneously closed in on their homes and offices, confiscating computers, documents and more.

The mayor’s chief of staff, driver and a contractor were also arrested. Gendelman stands accused of abusing his authority, using his senior post to promote self-interests.

The mayor is a member of the Yesh Atid party. The party was quick to release the following message. “The procedure is clear in Yesh Atid: a public official who has been criminally indicted will immediately suspend himself from all his duties and his membership in the party will be terminated until the matter is clarified. We hope that the suspicions will prove to be futile.”
