Deliberation On The Release Of The Minor In The Duma Arson Case

A deliberation on the release of the minor accused of involvement with the Kfar Duma arson attack began at the Central District Court in Lod in the early afternoon on Monday, 12 Tammuz. On 6 Tammuz, the court ruled that during interrogations in the Kfar Duma case methods used by Shin Bet interrogators constituted torture and the court invalidated all of the confessions by the minor which had been taken from him under duress.

The deliberation is taking place following a request filed on 8 Tammuz by the legal team representing the minor, Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar and Attorney Tzion Amir, with the Central District Court in Lod for an urgent deliberation to rule on the release of the minor. Judge Avraham Tal accepted the request for a deliberation and scheduled it for Sunday 11 Tammuz. It was subsequently postponed by one day to Monday 12 Tammuz.

Honenu Attorney Keidar: “We filed an urgent request with the [Central District] Court to order the release of the minor after two and a half years of remand during which the Supreme Court ordered time after time that at the conclusion of the trial within a trial a deliberation would be held on the minor’s release from remand. Our request for his release follows the extremely relevant ruling of the court that inappropriate methods were used on him, and we made this request in light of the severe brutality which injured him emotionally and physically and violated his rights.

All of these factors should bring about his release. I believe that they will, soon, and that he will start over,” added Honenu Attorney Keidar.

  1. THE FIRE AND CASUALTIES WERE CAUSED BY ARABS FROM THE SAME VILLAGE. THIS HAPPENS OFTEN WHEN FAMILIES HAVE FEUDS. THE SECRET POLICE WANTED TO TERRORISE AND INTIMIDATE THE HILLTOP SETTLERS SO THEY ARRESTED AT RANDOM AND HOPED TO EXTRACT CONFESSIONS THROUGH TORTURE
