Bayit Yehudi Fires Jerusalem Campaign Strategist for Shameful Anti-Chareidi Campaign

After the wave of angry reactions to the vehemently anti-chareidi Jerusalem election campaign by the Bayit Yehudi party, party leader Naftali Bennet rejected the campaign as reported, and decided to stop the work of the person behind it – the public relations man, Yehoshua Mor-Yosef. It appears he, and not the head of the party’s list who approved the campaign, Chagit Moshe, will be the scapegoat.

Bennett and number two on the national party list, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, had already demanded in closed meetings the dismissal of Mor-Yosef, a move which received public approval from party colleague MK Betzalel Smotrich.

In addition, a senior member of Beit Yehudi is quoted telling Srugim News regarding Mor-Yosef: “He joined the Bayit Yehudi yesterday, which means we are paying him, but we will probably not pay him because he is sure he will leave first.” Then he said, “Go home.”

Srugim reported on Monday, 25 Menachem Av, that Mor-Yosef only began a day earlier, serving as a strategist for the united list of the Jerusalem city council headed by Chagit Moshe, but a day after he took office, he caused a stir when dozens of ads published in the city warned of the transformation of Jerusalem into Bnei Brak. Elkin, Moshe Leon, and Ofir Berkowitz where shown in a combined ad with hats and peyos pinned to their heads.

In the morning, immediately after the publication of Yediot Achronot, Mor Yosef boasted, and wrote in his Twitter account: “I joined the strategic team of Bayit Yehudi Yerushalayim. He later thanked Yediot Achronot and correspondent Yael Friedson, who published the campaign in the newspaper.

However, the entire party leadership rejected the campaign, most notably MK Bezalel Smotrich who called it a “shameful campaign.” Of Mor-Yosef, he said that “he is not worthy of continuing the post after this failure.”

In his Twitter account, Smotrich strongly criticized the campaign and said: “A painful and shameful campaign that was published this morning on behalf of us in the municipal elections in Jerusalem. It was done without our consent and we are completely ignoring it and demanding its annulment.

  1. not so simple. Some one in Bayit Yehudi had to agree to the ad, it is not just the PR firm….

let us not believe everything we read. Bennett is not the spitz of observance….

  2. Not only that – yesterday – AUG 7 – when this article was written, the Bayit HaYehudi had advertized another thing almos the same jus without the Charedi “costume”

Only just now did I see that Bennett said to sopt it all until it is “checked”
