Israel Police SUV Crashes During Chase [PHOTOS]

According to a report to the media from the Yarkon district police spokesman, a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle resulted in significant damage to a new Israel Police SUV. The thief was taken into custody, while both the stolen vehicle and a police vehicle were badly damaged.

On Wednesday night, a car was reported to have been stolen in the Rishon L’Tzion Zion area and was found traveling on Route 5 east. The police set up roadblocks in the area while a police car reported eye contact with the stolen vehicle, ordering the driver to pull over to the side of the road.

The driver sped up and swerved, as if to ram the police vehicle. Police who were manning a checkpoint at Yarkonim Junction then detected the speeding stolen vehicle heading towards them. They fired at the tires and the vehicle continued driving at high speed towards the checkpoint, ramming a police SUV at the barrier. The suspect then exited the vehicle and began running, but the policemen who followed apprehended him, arresting the 29-year-old resident of the PA (Palestine Authority) city of Kalkilye. He was arraigned in the Tel Aviv Magistrate Court on Wednesday morning and his detention was extended by the court.

B’chasdei Hashem, there were no injuries reported among police.
