Jerusalem Police Arrest Caretaker for Stealing NIS 500,000 in Cash & Jewelry from Elderly Woman with Impaired Vision


Israel Police on Tuesday, 3 Elul, arrested a female who works as a caregiver for an elderly woman with a severe vision impairment on suspicion that she took advantage of her ill health and stole gold jewelry and cash from her home with a cumulative value of half a million shekels.

Police received a complaint for the family of an elderly woman who resides in eastern Jerusalem, according to which, their 48-year-old caretaker has been systematically stealing property from elderly woman in her charge, a woman with impaired vision.

The caretaker was taken into custody after police were able to establish sufficient proof that she is guilty as alleged by family members. Police allege that she stole property and cash from the elderly woman amounting to NIS 500,000. She was arraigned on Tuesday in a Jerusalem court as the investigation continues.

  1. old story and there are many worse stories. any senior with a caretaker must install cameras- no other solution if they are not living with family.
