Chareidei Yeshiva Student Moderately Injured After Falling Off His Bicycle

A 15-year-old Charedi yeshiva student was riding a bicycle offroad when he fell and sustained serious injuries near Tifrach in the northwestern Negev on Wednesday. The boy was treated at the scene by United Hatzalah volunteer emergency medical responders and was classified as being in moderate condition.

The EMS teams managed to extricate the boy from the bicycle path by using one of the organization’s all-terrain vehicles (Unit 4). By carrying the boy on the front of the vehicle they were able to transport him to the ambulance that was waiting to take the boy to the hospital.

OVer the past year, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of bicycle accidents resulting in injuries and even death. On Erev Sukkos, Magen David Adom youth volunteer Ari Nesher was killed when the bicycle he was riding on was involved in an accident with a car. Following the fatal injury, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu asked the Transportation Ministry to set up a committee that would submit a proposal with regards to how to combat the number of bicycle accidents, and in specific the number of accidents involving electric bicycles.
