TRAGEDY: 90-Year-Old Choked to Death on a Sufganiya in Israel


A 90-year-old Israeli man who choked on a sufganiya (jelly-filled donut) has R”L died.

It was immediately following candle lighting, the elderly man ate a sufganiya in a shul in Yishuv Aseret, and he began choking. EMS responded, and but were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene following resuscitation efforts.

It follows another incident earlier this week in which a 95-year-old Israeli man was miraculously resuscitated after choking on a sufganiya.

United Hatzalah EMT Ofer Araz said: “Together with paramedics, we removed the donut that blocked his airway and began CPR and resuscitation efforts.

The spokesmen and spokesmen of United Hatzalah notes that in recent days, medical teams have been called to a number of cases of suffocation as a result of eating donuts. UH officials stress that it is important to use safety and caution when giving donuts to toddlers and the elderly who have a higher risk of suffocation during swallowing.

  1. I dont onow what type of doenut it was but the one with the white sugar topping (confectionary sugar)are almost designed to choke anyone
