Knesset Committee Accepts Recommendation To Amend & Cancel Some Fire Department Fees


The Knesset Internal Affairs Committee approved the initiative of Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, to cancel the firefighting fee collected by the municipalities for the IDF Memorial Day and Holocaust Martyrs ‘and Heroes’ Remembrance Day events.

In addition, a significant reduction of the fees for fire extinguishing services was approved for one-time events throughout the country.

The new regulations approved by the committee stipulate, among other things, that the fee will be canceled for an opinion and inspection of one-time events held on the occasion of Memorial Day. In addition, the fee for safety inspections for one-time events up to 500 participants will be canceled and the fees for events between 500 and 3,000 participants will be significantly reduced.

In addition, in the event of a call to extricate someone from an elevator or opening a door, if the service is eventually not given (because the elevator technician came, the electricity returned etc.), there will be no charge, as opposed to the situation that exists today.

Minister Erdan changed the National Fire & Rescue Authority regulations two years ago, so that most of the fees for the National Authority for Firefighting and Rescue in Firefighters and Rescue Operations were canceled (operational fees), with the aim that most of the municipality’s operational services will be provided free of charge. Among other things, the manner in which the fire department collects fees from local authorities for holding mass events. To this day:
Up to 500 people: 1500 NIS.
Between 500 and 3000: 3000 NIS.
Over 3,000 people: 5000 NIS.

From today:
Up to 500 people: free of charge.
Between 500 and 1500: 830 NIS.
Between 1500 and 3000: 1750 NIS.
Between 3000 and 5000: 3000 NIS.
Between 5000 and 10,000: 5000 NIS.
Over 10,000: 7000 NIS.
