Beit Shemesh Mayor Bloch Signs Agreement With ‘Eitz’, The Peleg Faction

As Degel Hatorah is preparing to sit in opposition while the Beit Shemesh city council is being formed, Mayor Aliza Bloch has signed a coalition agreement with Bnei Torah, representing the Peleg Yerushalmi faction, which has emerged victoriously from coalition talks.

With one representative on the city council, Malachi Ki-Tov, Bnei Torah will enter the coalition with an unpaid deputy mayor post, as well as holding the portfolio for all cultural activities in the chareidi sector, while also having a seat on all city council committees. To date, this portfolio, known as “Chen Chareidi”, was held by Degel Hatorah and now, it appears all but certain that Degel will remain in opposition in the coming five years as the Peleg, the Eitz party, will oversee the chareidi cultural events in the city.

Eitz officials explain, “The coalition agreement anchors religious matters and safeguards them and we signed after receiving the bracha and encouragement of Gedolei Hador Shlita”.

Shas continues to delay talks with Bloch, claiming the mayor insists on linking an agreement with Shas with the dati leumi party in Beit Shemesh.

  1. Once again peleg shows its true colors joining hands with those who oppose chariedi leadership and what it stands for.
So where will peleg draw the line? Maybe join with women of the wall just to get some more funding.
And who are these Gedolei hador? the same ones who endanger the lives of down syndrome children by taking them to violent demonstration?
Peleg has joined the extreme groups who believe in desecrating everything we have stood for the last fifty years for some minor side benefit. Hiding behind imaginary Gedolei hador.

  2. simplyshimon they have their own leadership. don’t give me this true colors stuff. how about the true colors of degel who supports non-religious candidates all over the place?
