Ayalon Warns Against Overreacting Regarding Syrian Situation

Labor Party MK Ami Ayalon, a former GSS (General Security Service/ Shin Bet) chief and former navy commander warns against the government overreacting regarding reports of Syrian troop movements along the northern border with Israel.

Ayalon stated that the media reports are unsubstantiated, demanding a modicum of caution in order to avoid inflaming the situation. He stated that while the situation demands monitoring, we mustn’t make hasty decisions that will be costly.

Regarding the Iranian threat, the former senior security official stated the threat is indeed one demanding Israel working in concert with the international community towards neutralizing the threat.

Ayalon, who views himself as a possible candidate for the party leadership race, also spoke of the planned upgrades to the Israel Navy, which in the coming years will be acquiring a fleet of new submarines.
