Report: Guns Were Confiscated From Chareidi Soldiers During Netanyahu Visit

Chareidi soldiers from the Netzach Yehuda brigade claim that their guns were confiscated by security forces moments before Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu visited the Givat Assaf checkpoint where they are currently stationed.

Journalist for military affairs for Kan news agency Roee Sharon posted a tweet in which he showed a photo of the Chareidi soldiers meeting Netanyahu when they are without guns, next to a photo of soldiers from the Commando Unit who met Netanyahu while still having their rifles with them.

As a result of the order to hand in their weapons prior to the Prime Minister’s visit, numerous soldiers feel that the security services do not trust them.

This negative feeling has added to the already tough atmosphere hovering over the soldiers in the brigade due to the recent attacks and the loss of two comrades.

  1. sounds right to me given the history. besides if a charedi soldier tried to assassinate bibi, you have to be concerned if another chareidi would immediately kill him. i am sure some talmidei chachamim on this site would question killing a frum person trying to kill a non-frum person. sad but true

  2. I have written many times that Israel’s ruling elite, the unJews, do not see the Arabs as their enemy and that is why there is so much reluctance to defeat them at war to to punish them for terrorism. They see their real enemy as Torah Jews.

  3. Poor Chareidi soldiers…another reason why Chareidim shouldn’t serve in the IDF…they are discriminated and looked down on. I may be pro-Zionism but I’m not pro anything enough to be blind. Spiritually and practically, the army is not a place for Chareidim.

  4. Come join. Why don’t you join? … Who asked you to join.

Somehow reminiscent of, ‘Jews, go to Zion’, then, ‘Go back to Europe’.

  5. Well, before we get our gatkes in a bunch over this, might we not at least inquire as to whether this is standard procedure when the PM visits any military unit?

  6. Wait you mean that a soldier who serves in a normal unit with next to no background checks where any person can enlist to is not the same as a commando who has been vetted over and over again due to his potential involvement in top-secret operations and knowledge of state secrets?

Whether this was Nahal Haredi or any other unit they would still have had to surrender their weapons just like soldiers who partake in ceremonies with VIPs need to surrender their weapons.

  7. Notice:
    – the women present – to one side, or next to? – the “chareidi” soldiers
    – the “very chareidi” appearance of the soldiers in Netzach Yehuda

Great place for our sons, right?

  8. For point of reference look at BIbi’s Facebook page and he has a picture in March wishing “Jews and non Jews around the world a happy Easter” posing with regular soldiers.. holding their guns.. NOT special forces..
