Yesh Atid MK: Separation On Campuses Must Stop

MK (Yesh Atid) Aliza Lavie is challenging gender separation in some campuses in Israel, as she feels the public space belongs to “anyone and everyone and anyone uncomfortable with this must deal with it”.

“The working world is mixed and in Israel, men and women work together, and the sensitivity and understanding it gave to undergraduate programs in institutions where chareidi students study and enable tracks for chareidi students without women was only approved on a temporary basis, with the intention of diverting their way to a shared life, and hoping that they would enter the labor force and move on – and no so they so the chumros (stringencies) of the chareidi world would be extended and adopted.

“The expansion of core studies and the acquisition of a higher education are the two tasks that the Council for Higher Education must promote, and with a strong hand to prevent activity to impose the chareidi customs [on others]”.
