“Tzniyus” Graffiti in Jerusalem on Tuesday Morning

Segregation graffiti was found on the walls of Yerushalayim on Tuesday morning, near the Har Tzvi Shul. Graffiti saying “men” and “women” was found. It was done to maintain tznius in the neighborhood after city inspectors on Monday arrived in the Geula area and tore down the signs instructing men and women not to walk through together.

The inspectors arrived after Meretz Councilwoman Laura Walton responded to a local news report, about how the city has ignored a High Court ruling which declared segregation illegal, as reported by YWN-Israel.

It appears that in response to municipal inspectors removing the signs near Tzefanya Street that have been in place for a long time, persons decided to take matters into their own hands and used spray paint to replace the signs. In fact, residents were quoted saying that if the signs are removed, they will replace them within an hour, and now, it appears the new ‘signs’ are a bit more difficult to remove.

On the other side, Warton has stated the matter will not end here and she is not about to permit extremists to dictate the outcome of this matter.

Police have launched a probe to determine who is responsible for the graffiti.
