Israel Police To Recommend Indictment Against Betar Illit Resident Who Broke A Bus Driver’s Nose

Israel Police on Tuesday submitted a recommendation to the prosecution to file a criminal indictment against a Betar Illit man who argued with a bus driver, striking him and breaking his nose.

The driver reported to police that on last motzei Shabbos, he was attacked by the young man, who he explained blocked the bus with his vehicle and endangered other drivers on the road. The driver added that the man then argued with him, assaulted him, and broke his nose.

Police tracked down the driver and learned the assailant is a 19-year-old resident of the chareidi city. An indictment for aggravated assault is expected to be filed against him in the coming days.

  1. Why is this just a case of a recommendation? The police should charge him, bring him to Court and ask for him to be held without bail until his trial.

  2. It would be interesting to hear the whole story. Unless this fellow turns out to be mentally ill, there must be a back story here.
