HORROR: Eilat Mom May Have Drowned 4-Year-Old Son; Sent For Psych Evaluation

The Eilat mother whose 4-year-old son died after drowning in a bathtub in their home remains behind bars and is being sent for a psychiatric evaluation, as it is alleged she intentionally drowned him.

The Eilat Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday ordered the psych evaluation in light of the description of events given to police by the mother, who police now fear killed her son intentionally. Attorney Eyal Lavi, who represents the mom, explained to the media, “She is a young mom and the events are truly tragic, and it appears, not at all simple. At present, she is barely speaking”.

Walla News reports the 26-year-old mom tried to commit suicide a number of months ago. When she gave her son a bath in their home this week they were home alone. The child was transported from the home in serious condition to Yosef Tal Hospital in Eilat, and later transported to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva where he was pronounced dead during the night after resuscitation efforts failed. The official complaint was filed with police by the husband/father.

  1. Another tragedy because we don’t admit it when people have mental health problems, or stigmatize them when they seek treatment. We need something like Amudim in the chareidi communities in EY.
