Shomron resident Evyatar Borovsky HYD was murdered in a stabbing terror attack at Tapuach Junction a number of weeks ago. In line with standard operating procedure, when authorities closed off the terror attack site all of the victims personal effects were gathered and taken to assist in the investigation. Following the shiva, the personal belongings of the victim were returned to the bereaved family. However, police have yet to return the victims cellular telephone or teudat zehut identification card.
According to a Maariv report, the family states that the bag containing the victims belongings did not have his identity card or his Samsung Galaxy smartphone. The phone was given to him from his workplace, and it contained many photos and videos of his family.
The report adds that the family turned to the cellular provider, Orange, and has learned that during the shiva 30 calls were made from Evyatars phone. When the victims employer turned to Israel Police to get the phone, they were reportedly told We dont have time to run after every cell phone in Israel.
When Maariv turned to Shai Police for an explanation the newspaper was told that an investigation was launched to determine what happened to the phone, which disappeared from police custody. No mention is made regarding the whereabouts of the identity card.

This is another example of how incompetent and unreliable the Israeli police are
what are the possible reasons for the police to hold onto the phone?
