Israel Railways Promises Full Service On Election Day

Israel Railways is preparing to serve during the election day for the 21st Knesset, which is an official holiday for the economy.

In contrast to previous years in which the railway lines were operated in a limited format, this year, due to expectations of increased demand, all railway lines will be operated for the first time at a full schedule, including approximately 580 trains.

In addition, Israel Railways will reinforce the crews of the stations with stewards, security guards and managers who will deploy in the field in order to provide optimal service to the general public expected to take the train.

On Election Day, a free train ride will be possible, in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Transport. The free travel benefit will be given by means of a one-time paper card only, and not via the multi-line card.

Accordingly, starting from April 8, 2019 at 8:00 PM and until April 9, 2019 at 11:59 PM, travelers must use the designated Election Day card issued in order to realize the benefit of free travel to one’s polling station.

Israel Railways expects that over 250,000 persons will use the trains on Election Day based on the volume of travelers seen a number of months ago on Municipal Election Day, during which there were 250,000 travel tickets validated.

Voters expecting to use Israel Railways are advised to update via the railway homepage, Facebook page or railway app.
