Syrian FM: Palestinian Track Does Not Have to Influence Syrian Tack

Speaking from Iran, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem spoke slowly, out of character, articulating each word, stating if Israel is willing to pull back to the pre-June 4th [1967] boundaries, and is serious about peace, the Palestinian track does not have to be a hindrance and there is no reason we cannot move forward.

Following reports in the Syrian media over recent days, it is becoming increasingly apparent that a deal between Damascus and Jerusalem is in the works, one that involves major Israeli land concessions.

The reports have appeared on the Syrian semi-government controlled Shams Press website as well as in the al-Watan newspaper.
