Galil Medical Center Doctor Attacked By Irate Patient

An Arab patient attacked a senior physician in the Galil Medical Center emergency room after felt he was waiting for too long. When another doctor came to the aid of his colleague, the irate patient then attacked him as well. A security guard and a policeman station at the medical center managed to bring the situation under control. The attacker was taken to a Nahariya police station.

The doctor, who sustained light injury, received treatment in the emergency room.

It should be noted that only a month and a half ago, three security guards were attacked at the medical center by three young residents of the area who were informed that one of their relatives had died at the medical center.

“The man came to us shouting and cursing, claiming that he did not understand why he was not receiving treatment, and when I tried to explain to him that he had to go to the triage area, he suddenly began to attack me in the head and other parts of my body. It was a frightening and unpleasant ordeal,” Dr. Masad Barhoum, the senior physician who was attacked said: “We have zero tolerance for anyone who acts violently against the medical staff. We will act on all levels, both in this case and in the future, in order to prevent and uproot this phenomenon. We have no doubt that the police will deal with every case of violence against the medical staff.”
