Ashkelon Prison Emptied Due To Rocket Attacks

Due to the continuous rocket fire from Gaza over Shabbos, Acting Commissioner of the Prison Service Gondar Asher Vaknin decided to empty the Shikma prison in Ashkelon and relocate all of the inmates to Be’er Sheva.

The move came on Shabbos afternoon after close to 150 rockets had already been fired at Israel. After the move took place, rockets continued to strike Israel, with a handful being fired at and striking Be’er Sheva. So far, no plans to relocate prisoners a second time has been initiated.
