Government Approves an Immediate NIS 4.5 Million to Assist Fire Victims in Israel


The government on Sunday approved an assistance plan for the communities hit by the recent fires a week and a half ago. According to the plan initiated by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, NIS 4.5 million will be allocated immediately to towards rehabilitating those communities, first and foremost, Mevo Modi’im, where 40 of the communities 50 homes were engulfed in the flames, not to mention the public areas.

According to the government’s message, the plan will provide an initial response to the communities hit by fires, assisting local authorities where residents were evacuated from their homes due to extensive damage from fire.

On May 23, 2019, a wave of fires plagued areas of Israel, including Mevo Modi’im and Kibbutz Harel, two communities hit particularly hard, leaving many residents without a roof over their heads. “The situation demands an immediate government response as well as local authorities, and it was decided to provide immediate aid to permit the local authorities to assist the residents impacted by the fires“.
