TRAGEDY IN ASHDOD: United Hatzalah Volunteer, Father of 9, Niftar After Brief Cardiac Illness


Baruch Dayan HaEmmes: R’ Avisholom Yankowitz Z”L, of Ashdod, was niftar in Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer in Tel Aviv Monday morning. The niftar complained of “not feeling well” two weeks ago and he was admitted to Assuta Hospital where he underwent a cardiac procedure, after which his situation worsened. He was transferred to Tel Hashomer Hospital where doctors succeeded in stabilizing his condition, however, he was niftar on Monday morning at the age of 36.

Many were mispallel for the niftar while he was ill, for Refael Avishalom ben Miriam Ita, with Refael added during his illness.

The niftar was born in Elul 5742 to Rav Nachman Yankowitz Z”L, who was niftar when Avishalom was quite young. He moved to Ashdod after he married and davened in the Ateret Tzvi Shul and the Beis Medrash Chassidus Neshchiz (נעשכיז) in the city. He was an active volunteer in United Hatzalah and was always concerned with the wellbeing of the tzibur.

He is survived by his wife and nine children, with the oldest being only 14.

An emergency fund was launched to assist his Almanah and 9 Yesomim.
