Likud and Blue and White Officials Looking Into Voiding Elections?

Member of the two largest parties from the 21st Knesset, Likud and Blue and White, are looking into options to see if it is possible to cancel the upcoming elections and maintain the current Knesset. Officials from both parties are working together as well as separately to see if such a thing is possible.

A report on Channel 12 news first reported that the sources in both parties were indeed looking into garnering the necessary 80 votes it would take to overturn the law that dispersed the Knesset from three weeks ago, and with it, would overturn the entirety of the new elections.

A reporter for Channel 12 said that the only logical conclusion in such a scenario would be a unity government.

With Kulanu having joined the Likud, the three parties together now would have 74 mandates. The powers behind the initiative would need to drag 6 more votes from other parties to have such a notion pass.

The main issue however, is that there is no law addressing such a scenario in the Elections law. The issue has never before come up and therefore there is no precedent for such a move.

One of the most active MKs behind such a move is Chagit Michal Rosenbaum, who was the Likud candidate for the position of State Comptroller.

The initial report stated that neither Netanyahu nor Gantz had anything to do with the attempts to bring down the law that brought down the 21st Knesset. However, over the past two weeks, dominant personages in both large parties have been very active in making attempts to try to undo the upcoming elections.

Should such a thing transpire, the Charedi parties, as well as the United Right Wing party would suffer tremendously from such a blow and would find themselves outside of the government.

Sources within the Blue and White party stated that there is only one possibility for a unity government and that would be that Netanyahu would leave the position of Prime Minister to deal with his legal issues and the Blue and White party would lead a wide majority government.
