Israel Police Operation Since January Led To Over 800 Persons In Custody For Illegal Weapons


Israel Police’s Northern District has been working hard to reduce the number of illegal weapons on the streets. As such, since January 1,2019, Northern District police have arrested 804 suspects allegedly dealing in drugs as well as illegal weapons. In addition, police arrested 89 persons suspected of having illegal weapons and ammunition in their possession, and 101 suspects have been arrested and indicted, and they are being held without bail pending the outcome of their trials.

Police and border police were involved in the case, which involved house searches in many Israeli Arab municipalities in the Galil area, including but not limited to Sajur, Nazareth, Kalanit, Ras al-Ein, Tamra, Sakhnin, and Nachaf. In total, police confiscated 94 assault rifles, 194 pistols, 74 hand grenades, 53 IEDs, 549 firebombs, 417 fireworks, and 6 RPGs.
