SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Hamas command Nafez Mansour was killed on Thursday when an IAF air-to-surface missile struck his vehicle in Gaza. He was involved in the 2006 abduction of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

*Thursday, another day of non-stop Kassam rockets and mortar fire into southern Israel.

*PA: 57-year-old male killed by IDF sharpshooter fire near Khan Yunis as IDF continues operating in the area.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) underwent a cardiac catheterization in Amman, Jordan and is reported in good condition.

*A forest fire in the Palmachim area on Thursday destroyed about 100 dumans (25 acres) of nature reserves. No injuries.

*Leading the March of the Living in Poland, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi stated “we have learned our lesson and will take all threats seriously.” 

*FM Livni calling on government to appeal Nazareth court decision to permit Arab Nakba event on Independence Day.

*Shas MK Shlomo Benizri may not appeal to High Court of Justice after being sentenced to 18 months in prison, explaining he does not have the strength for another court case.

*Author Safi Rachlevsky during a Wednesday session of Knesset Interior Committee compared Chametz Law to Nuremburg Laws of Nazi Germany. He was shunned by all committee members, chareidi, frum and non-religious alike, who told him he will not be permitted to continue speaking since he refused to apologize.
