PM Netanyahu Promises No Change In Immunity Law

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu promises that despite reports to the contrary, which he blames on [Ehud] Barak, there will not be a change in the Immunity Law.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday morning told his Facebook viewers in a live broadcast from a Jerusalem coffee shop that former PM Ehud Barak and his new party is spreading nonsense, stating “What Ehud? This is one of the jokes of democracy”.

In response to reports that he, Mr. Netanyahu, is planning to change the Immunity Law for elected officials to protect himself from possible criminal indictments, the prime minister insists “There are no planned changes to the Immunity Law signed in the coalition agreements with whom we tried forming a coalition. No one knew that we would not [succeed] in forming a coalition and the fact is, that this was not included”.

Mr. Netanyahu emphasized, “There is no need for this. First of all, nothing will occur [regarding indictments] but more than this, there is an existing law and there is no need for new laws. These are bluffs from Ehud Barak, who is chattering about the ‘end of democracy’. It is nonsense and hot air. There will be no change in the Immunity Law”.

Regarding the problems of illegal aliens, the prime minister said, “If I had not intervened and prevented their entry, there would not have been a Jewish state here, if at all. We blocked a million [infiltrators]”.
