Israel: Parents Concerned Over Children With Food Allergies Having A Reaction While In School

Some 200 parents of children with allergies took to the streets of Tel Aviv on Monday night as part of an ongoing protest, concerned over who will provide “life-saving treatment for a child” who has an allergic reaction in school.

This was prompted by a directive released about two months ago by the teachers’ union, instructing teachers not to take part in training for dealing with students with an allergic reaction from food. The Ministry of Education and Minister of Education have yet to announce a solution to this potentially life-threatening situation in the nation’s public schools.

In addition, the Ministry of Welfare has canceled assistance to children with allergies in daycare environments, contrary to a ruling by the High Court of Justice.
