Hezbollah Fires Multiple Anti-Tank Missiles Into Israel; IDF Orders Bomb Shelters Opened

The IDF says that multiple anti-tank missiles were fired into Israel on Sunday afternoon. Minutes later, the IDF ordered all bomb shelters to be opened within 4 kilometers of the border, and people to remain in their homes.

The military says several of these struck their targets.

“The IDF returned fire at the sources of the launches and at targets in southern Lebanon,” the military says in a brief statement.

Hezbollah claims an IDF vehicle was hit and destroyed – but the IDF says that no Israelis were injured.

Israel has been bracing for a possible attack by Hezbollah in response to a series of alleged Israeli strikes on Iranian and Hezbollah targets in recent weeks.

Shortly after the attack, Hezbollah released a statement taking responsibility.

On the background of northern border tensions and Israel’s preparedness against Hezbollah, the Hezbollah al-Manar station reported on Sunday that IDF forces opened fire at unknown targets. The Lebanese Army claims that an IDF drone dropped a flammable substance in the Har Dov area. The IDF Spokesman’s Office confirms “the fires are the result of our operations”.

The Lebanese Army said that an Israeli drone violated its sovereign airspace and released a substance that began a forest fire along the border. Lebanon reports the latest Israeli action represents a violation of the ceasefire achieved ending the Second Lebanon War.

On Shabbos, Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah threatened a military response to Israeli hostilities.

In the interim, the IDF continues bringing artillery forces to the northern border, along with tanks and other armored vehicles. The IDF is preparing for Hezbollah amid the escalating threats from the terrorist army’s leader and the possibility that the IDF will meet the situation with a widespread military response along the border.

To that end, it was decided to prepare the area for withdrawal from the border line to permit sniper and anti-aircraft fire towards providing increasing security for the border communities, fearing enemy penetration. Air defense systems are also being prepared against rocket launches, raising the sensitivity and readiness of fighter jets in the north. The Israel Navy has also increased its readiness in case of the need for a marine response.
