Northern Jerusalem Building Evacuated as a Result of a Gas Leak

The fire department on Tuesday morning evacuated a building on Rachmilovitz Street in the northern neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev after a gas leak was detected.

The leak was caused by a break in the line, which was the result of construction in the area. The workers hit a main gas line, leading to an immediate strong smell of gas in the area. The leak was detected, the main line shut off and repair work began. In the interim, the tenants of a building had to be evacuated for their own safety.
