PHOTOS: Hamas Activists Nabbed Trying To Smuggle Phones Into Imprisoned Terrorists In Israel

Efforts to smuggle cellphones into Palestinian terrorists imprisoned in Israel continue. A number of youths were arrested as they tried doing just that by taping phones and parts of phones to their bodies, but they were caught during security checks.

Most of the suspects in custody are teens or younger, as the terrorists feel their punishment will be far less severe if apprehended.

Some of the phone parts were hidden on and inside their bodies, inserting them in their flanks in the hope of handing the phones to the so-called “security prisoners” when inside the prison.

Israel Prison Authority officials report a significant increase in attempts to smuggle in phones to terrorists of late. Since the beginning of 2019, 168 cellphones were confiscated during security checks.

Some of the prisoners entering Ofer Prison elicited the suspicions of prison guards, and during inspections, they found no less than 12 phones that were hidden inside the bodies of prisoners. The prisoners were moved to isolation to punish them for the attempted smuggling.

One Hamas-affiliated visitor to the prison on Tuesday was apprehended with four cellphones, three keyboards for cellphones, and a SIM card. Another Hamas visitor early Wednesday was nabbed with eight phones and three keyboards on his body.
