Many Chareidim Heading Back To Vote – Some Delayed in NYC

Many chareidim abroad are adhering to instruction from Gedolei Torah in Eretz Yisrael, returning home to vote in the election for 22nd Knesset on Tuesday. Directors of chareidi institutions and chareidi businessmen abroad are among them, as well as some Israeli chareidim living abroad, all heading back to vote.

According to a Kikar Shabbos News report, United Airlines flight 090 from New York, which was supposed to take off on Sunday evening at 10:50PM, was delayed, still not taking off at 2:30AM NYC time. It was set to take off at 1:26PM Monday New York time.

There were many chareidim on the flight, many returning to vote in the election for 22nd Knesset. Among the passengers are Rav Avraham Shalom Pinzel (פינזל), who is the director of Talmid Torah Chachmas Shlomo in Jerusalem and Rav Yechiel Mendelson, director of Seminar Darchei Rachel in Jerusalem.

The report adds that passengers applied pressure on the flight crew to board the plane, fearing the delays may not bring them back in time to vote. Some of those returning are doing so just to vote and will return back to New York after spending a few hours in Israel.

  1. “The report adds that [Chareidi] passengers applied pressure on the flight crew to board the plane, fearing the delays may not bring them back in time to vote.

Much respect and kovod for their willingness to incur the time and expense to participate in the voting process but hopefully they did NOT (as the article implies) harass the flight crews who generally are as anxious as anyone to get a flight off the gate on time. We don’t need another story of poor midos by frum airline passengers.
