This is What the Chareidim are Requesting from the Central Elections Committee


The legal advisor of Degel Hatorah is requesting from the chairman of the Central Elections Committee (CEC) not to publicize official final election results before checking polling stations in which there are more votes than registered voters.

Degel Hatorah legal counsel Menachem Moskowitz, on erev Shabbos turned to CEC Chairman Justice Chanan Melcer, asking to first check a number of polling stations in which votes were disqualified before announcing the official final election results. According to Moskowitz, this refers to a number of polling stations with a majority of valid votes, but nevertheless, a high percentage of disqualified votes than the national average.

Despite instruction from Melcer to polling stations not to disqualify votes for imperfections in a ballot slip, like a tear or a hole, the polling stations referred to by Degel Hatorah have disqualified the ballots, nonetheless. The party asks that these votes be counted in accordance with voting regulations, and only to disqualify votes when three is no other alternative.
