Defense Establishment Expects an Increase in Rocket Fire from Gaza


The defense establishment believes that after a Friday night of rocket fire from Gaza into Southern Israel, rocket attacks from the Hamas-controlled area will continue and increase, News12’s Nir Diburi reports.

Over 10 rockets were fired at Southern Israel on Friday night from Gaza. B’chasdei Hashem eight of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome rocket defense system. One rocket landed in the yard of a home, lightly injuring of number of persons and resulting in property damage to the home, the street and vehicles. The IDF launched retaliatory raids against terrorist targets in Gaza.

Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi is calling on the political establishment to order a major military operation against Gaza. “Unfortunately, once again the Shabbos eve meal was interrupted by rocket fire by terrorist organization, which fired rockets into Sderot and this compelled thousands of residents and children to run for cover in protected areas. We live with this reality for almost two years and the time has come to put an end to this with a major military operation which includes eliminating the Hamas leadership”.

In his address from Rabin Square on motzei Shabbos at the annual memorial for Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin, Blue & White party leader MK Benny Gantz stated that when he is elected, this situation will not continue for he will take whatever steps necessary to bring an end to the rocket fire from Gaza once and for all.
