VIDEO/PHOTOS: Police Raid Gathering Of Souped-Up Vehicles In Jerusalem

Police over the weekend raided a gathering of souped-up vehicles, explaining the modifications were not legal. Police ordered 18 vehicles off the road as a result of the illegal modifications.

Police received advanced information of the planned car meet of owners of vehicles that were modified. The event took place in an isolated area in Jerusalem, last Thursday, during the evening hours. 30 vehicles were driven to the meet, and when the word was given, the area was closed off so none of the drivers could leave the meeting locations.

One by one, police inspected each vehicle to determine if it is still safe to be on the road. In eighteen of the vehicles, police vehicle inspectors determined there were major safety violations, prompting police to order them off the road immediately, until such time they are deemed safe again. Some of the modifications involved the exhaust system and engine. As a result, some of the vehicles exceeded the maximum noise level permitted.

Some of the vehicle registrations were canceled on the spot and sent for another inspection. The eighteen were removed from the road entirely.
