In a letter sent to US President George W. Bush, a number of rabbis call on the American leader not to meet with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, stating, “it is not respectable for a leader such as the American president to meet with a man suspected of criminal activities and is willing to sellout his Homeland to save himself from the law. In the name of the Jewish People, the Land of Israel, the Torah and Israel and the G-d of Israel, we request the president refrain from pressuring Israel to turn over land to the Arabs. We request that the president refrain from meeting with Mr. Olmert regarding these issues, particularly at this time.”

Among those who signed the letter are Rabbis Yaakov Yosef, Meir Mazuz, Shmuel Eliyahu, Dovid Druckman, and Dov Lior.

The rabbis add that it is an “unprecedented chutzpa that while America combats terrorism, it pressures Israel to make concessions to terrorists. We are shocked that Secretary of State Rice conducts talks with a prime minister who is the subject of a criminal investigation from head to toe, when his very position compels him to make concessions and acquiesce to pressure.”

The letter ends, “Mr. President, do not be scorched in the eyes of history as were Nebuchadnezzar and Titus who destroyed Yerushalayim. You are well aware that America does not fare well if it causes harm to the Jewish People and the Land of Israel Heaven Forbid. If you assist towards a Greater Israel we promise you and your country bountiful blessings, materialistic and spiritual.”

Greetings and blessings!

Subject: Your upcoming trip to Israel

Dear and honored Mr. President!

We have written to you in the past about your pressuring Israel to concede land to the Arabs, while uprooting settlements and residents from their homes and banishing them to exile.

Three years ago such a step was taken in Gush Katif.  Experience has proven that the Israeli goverment wreaked devastation upon 2,000 families, crowned Hamas as rulers of Gaza, empowered our enemies who are now an even larger threat looming over us. They have brought upon us a daily shower of Kassam missiles on the city of Sderot and the western Negev, and no peace has been attained.

If, G-d forbid, they will continue in this vein and try to uproot more settlements to be turned over to the Arabs, it will cause a civil war and put millions of Jews in danger.

It is incredibly brazen, that while the USA is fighting terrorism in Iraq, it demands of Israel to yield to terrorists!

We are shocked by the audacity of Secretary of State Condeleeza Rice, who is conducting talks with a Prime Minister under criminal investigation, whose personal situation causes him to yield to pressure. To deal with someone suspect of criminal behavior and ready to betray his country to save his skin, is disrespectful to you, Mr. President.

In the name of the Jewish Nation, the Holy Land, the Torah (Bible) of the Jews and the G-d of Israel, we implore you, Honorable Mr. President, to stop pressuring Israel to cede lands to the Arabs. We beg of you not to meet with Mr. Olmert, especially not at the present time.

Dear Mr. President, don’t go down in the annals of history as one of the destroyers of Jerusalem, as Nebuchadnezzar and Titus.

Surely you remember that America does not benefit from causing harm to the Jews and their land.  On the other hand, if you assist in keeping the integrity of the land, we promise you blessings best in all things good, both spiritual and material.
