They most likely did not realize their actions would cause such a stir, but officers on Tuesday attending the ceremony to honor the air force�s outgoing chief and welcome in the new commander decided not to make the 90 minute drive, but used small transport planes to fly to the Ramat Dovid base. A total of 10 planes arrived at the base for the high-level ceremony.

Interesting, outgoing Air Force Commander Major-General Eliezer Shkedy and incoming commander Major-General Ido Nehushtan did indeed arrive by car, not plane.

Critics, and there are many, stated this is just another example of the air force�s lack of concern for the IDF�s serious fiscal difficulties.
