The announcement of construction in many areas of Yerushalayim and Betar Illit has elicited angry remarks from the Peace Now extremist left-wing organization.

In a statement to the media, Peace Now calls the new plans for construction of over 1,000 units �a last nail in the coffin of Annapolis [Conference] understandings,� condemning the government for taking the step in defiance of the international community�s stand on renewed construction in �controversial areas�, which are primarily areas of Yerushalayim liberated in the June 1967 Six Day War.
