The weapon used in the killing of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh on Friday was made in Israel, Iranian media outlets stated on Monday.

“The weapon collected from the site of the terrorist act (where Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was assassinated) bears the logo and specifications of the Israeli military industry,” an unnamed source told state TV’s English language Press TV. The report was not corroborated by any identified sources or images.

Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency claimed on Sunday that Fakhrizadeh was killed by a remote-controlled automatic machine gun from a Nissan truck nearby without any human perpetrators at the scene. However, witnesses of the attacks said that human gunmen were present at the scene. The Fars version of the attack was not confirmed by Iran or attributed to any official sources.

Fakhrizadeh’s funeral took place in Tehran on Monday and Iran’s Defense Minister Amir Hatami vowed that Iran would avenge his killing.

“The enemies know and I, as a soldier, tell them that no crime, no terror and no stupid act will go unanswered by the Iranian people,” Hatami said in a televised speech.

  1. Why would an Israeli media outlet want to reinforce speculation about responsibility for the killing given that it will only add credibility to any Iranian justification for “retaliation’>

  2. So according to the NY Times report and others, they killed your Dr. Evil with a remote control car bomb that caused his vehicle to stop then they cut the power to the whole town remotely from Israel, then they drove 6 or 7 self-driving cars loaded with machine guns to the site and killed this clown remotely and then all the cars self destructed – BUT YOU’RE TELLING US that they forgot to take off the “made in israel” sticker?

These people are dumber than a bag of hair.

  3. Fakehadorah, next time read the article content before embarrassing yourself. Fars news is Iranian news service the last time i checked, not Israeli.

  4. The “made in Israel” sticker, if there is one, takes the pressure off Iran to take action against any state other than Israel. If the alleged weapon were made in China, Iran would not announce it and put itself at odds with a powerful but somewhat neutral opponent.

I do not think Iran actually knows where the weapon was made, but wants to narrow its revenge targets to Israel only.

You didn’t read the article. I’m not sure who the dummy is here. It doesn’t say anything about made in Israel stickers. And it’s obvious from the article that there are more than one opinion to the whole remote thing. So please pay more attention

  6. ANON21: I was obviously embellishing to make the point in a somewhat humorous fashion. No, the dummies in Iran did not say sticker, they said “logo and specifications” of the Israeli army and while the specifics of the action are somewhat speculative, no one denies that it was not only complex but that effort was made to conceal the perpetrators, making the suggestion that they left behind indicators completely ludicrous.

As a second point: why is it that I find myself having to explain the painfully obvious to other commentators whenever I post on this site? This rarely, if ever, happens when I post on other websites.
