5 Jews Arrested for Attempting to Daven at Kever Yosef

mishtara2.jpgAuthorities on Monday night arrested five Breslov chassidim who entered PA-controlled Shechem in the hope of reaching Kever Yosef to daven at the holy site.

The five were taken out of the PA area unharmed and then brought to a police station. In the past, Jews entering Shechem without prior authorization faced criminal charges for violating the army ban prohibiting Israelis from entering PA autonomous areas.

May G-d bless them every day of their lives!

These men are not only showing honor to Yosef, they are reminding the Israeli government that our Holy Sites must be protected and available.

What has happened at Kever Yosef is an international crime. Nothing can replace what has been lost, but the Israeli government should be responsible to repair the site and protect for the future–not leave it to be attacked by the wild dogs who call themselves men.

  2. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get in ? I went thursday night erev mem alef l’omer yesod she’be’yesod..

I had a od yosef chai guy text me about trip at the request of zangy head of chonenu.. after 15 round about calls I got a email address.. and pulled every string in the book (it helps to live in chevron…)

And I can tell you that thousands showed up in middle of the shomron at 12-2am with the small chance of getting in.

I dont think the army has a claim.. there was 4 buses in and out every 30 minutes like clockwork.. while our driver was a shmuck and would only let 50 in and no standing.. other buses were jammed.

350? in and out every 30 minutes… and everyone was well behaved.. the army needs to do this every night.

  3. You are putting your lives on the lines, and the life of the soldiers trying to protect you. COORDINATE the actions..

  4. #4 and 5,
Simply stated the IDF very rarely lets people in.. as my comment above says.. on 300+ every 30 minutes you get maybe 750 a hour.. no more than 2,000 can go in.. the army only allows a trip once a month..

The IDF rarely has to come in.. these guys go every night.. I dont see how the IDF is risking their lives..

Instead, maybe focus on the sad plight of the kever of yosef hatzadik, abandoned by the government.. kever rachel was almost abandoned,, whats next?

There are many holy sites off limits to jews.. its very sad indeed that jews must risk their lives in “medinat yisrael” to visit holy sites..

Har hazeitim is risky to visit, kever yehoshua and kalev opened just twice a year, kever avner ben ner is a 20 foot walk into forbidden territory, otniel ben canaz in chevron too off limits, nosson hanavi, gad hachoze off limits in halhoul.. and on and on and on..

we have a definite mesorah from the arizal about these k’varim.

kever aharon is known to be in “eastern jordan”, not lebanon, not western jordan. (read the parsha in matot.

the alleged kever of mordechai is an arab mesorah, which is one of the few arab mesorah’s we do not accept 100%!

(secret — the kever of rochel imenu is somwewhat controversial, but due political considerations, and moereover, the fact that it is generally accepeted, we are not pushuing that controversy at this time.)

what about the kever of rav ashi? do you cpnsider that controversial? (its in what is now called the “sheba farms area”)
