SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*IDF soldiers involved in counter-terrorism measures throughout Yehuda and Shomron on Tuesday night apprehended eight suspects in the Chevron and Jenin areas. The suspects were turned over to the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) for interrogation.

*Soldiers involved in counter-terror operations in the Shechem district were targeted with firebombs and makeshift explosive devices. No injuries were reported.

*Rock-throwing attacks against Israeli motorists on Highway 443 (Jerusalem-Modi’in Hwy) near Beit Sira. No injuries.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*For the first time, today’s air force pilot school graduation, there are no kibbutz members. It appears they have been replaced by members of the dati leumi community, representing 25% of this current graduating class.

*Israel has filed a complaint with the United Nations Security Council regarding Tuesday’s rocket attacks into the Greater Sderot Area.

*“Rabbanim Shlita” calling for a Thursday afternoon protest at 4:00PM at Kikar Shabbos against to’eva parade.

*Emergency training exercise at Ben-Gurion Airport Wednesday morning simulating a flight from Tel Aviv to Manchester bursting into flames in midair an hour into the flight. The drill involved an El Al 747-200 plane.

*A man arrived at a Rishon L’Tzion medical clinic during the morning after being bitten by a snake. He was transported to a hospital, reportedly in light-to-moderate-condition.

*An 18-year-old Netanya youth is in police custody after he failed to comply with orders to stop, engaging police in a chase and at one point, trying to run down police personnel.

*Winograd Commission member Prof. Yechezel Dror calls on PM Olmert to resign in light of his handling of the Second Lebanon War.
