The opening of the new Intel facility in Kiryat Malachi was an occasion, one that carried enough significance to bring Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who addressed the event.
Local residents however do not feel the joy, explaining the high tech employees in the facility will be coming from the center of the country. They explain that the only jobs being offered to them are menial labor, cleaning and maintenance, insisting there are many local residents competent to fill high tech slots as well.
On a happier note, northern Negev residents are pleased over the opening of another section of the Rabin Highway (Highway 6), connecting the area to the center of the country.
