Bnei Brak residents are fuming after Israel Police approved a provocative women’s march on main streets of Bnei Brak on Thursday night, with main streets such as Rechov Rabbi Akiva, to be closed off for five hours – from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m.

In addition, the police announced that “exit or entry to all streets that cross or meet with the listed intersections will be allowed only in accordance with the location of the march. Significant changes are expected in the routes of public transportation in the area, with the full details on the bus companies’ websites. You must obey the instructions of the police officers stationed at the roadblocks and use alternative routes.”

Kikar H’Shabbat spoke with some residents of Bnei Brak, who are furious that the police approved the march.

Yehudha, a long-time resident of Bnei Brak, said: “Some anarchists decided to do a stupid campaign against the so-called discrimination of women, and the police, instead of explaining to them nicely that Bnei Brak isn’t the address, are fully cooperating with them and blocking the city for us? Where’s Ben-Gvir? Where did he disappear to? Where are the Chareidi representatives? Why are they bringing provocations to our backyard? And then they’ll complain that there’s friction? They’re creating it! With the backing of the police!”

Avi, a 34-year-old businessman, told Kikar: “By what right do the police, who know how to ‘function’ well in Arab cities, allow them to block off half a city and more on Erev Shabbos when people are pressured and need to start preparing for Shabbos? What did the residents do? How can the police be so brazen?”

Yossi, 44, said: “After all the criticism the police received for their treatment of the [left-wing] protesters, that the Chareidi public could dream of such ‘treatment,’ they’re once again knocking the Chareidim and trying to please the protesters by going against the Chareidim.”

Mrs. R. Tzinovich said: “It’s chutzpah. How do these women have the audacity to come and give us instructions on how to behave? What is this despicable dictatorship? Why do the police allow this at all? This is a coup by bored people with money who are trying to force a lifestyle on us that we’re not interested in at all. Get out of our city. You’re not welcome here.”

  1. To all the BB Hockers: Too bad…for over 2 years, there were weekly hafganot disrupting the lives of hundreds of thousands of Israelis for a whole range of issues ranging from draft deferrals, public transit, sales of cell phones, excavation for critical public infrastructure etc.etc. Whether you agree or not, these demonstrations are addressing concerns held by a substantial portion of the population and they are entitled to demonstrate on public streets. If some are inconvenienced, thats what democracy is all about

  2. They let right wingers march in Arab towns too. This is democracy. Besides, most jerusalemites hate the Chareidi riots over sometimes made up problems. This is democracy.

  3. No tips for police head. Did you ask. The substantial part of this liberal caucus isn’t worth a prayer. Evil women May their monthly stop for embarrassing a special community how’s does no babies fill your pocket Dreck

  4. Big talker. What would you be spewing if the chareidem wanted to protest on public streets in Tel Aviv during the siren on Yom Hazikaron?
No doubt you would be pushing freedom and the right to demonstrate on public streets.
    Phony.

  5. @ Dorah
Do you think such a procession would be allowed in New Square or Kiryas Yoel?
The Leftist Goyim are just out to make a mockery of the Chareidim and everything we hold holy.
Disgraceful in a country that pretends to be Jewish!
A bunch of disgusting Sonei Torah and you @GodalHadorah have the gal to legitimize it.
I think you should change your user name to GadolHashkotzim. Shame on you!

  6. A big to do about nothing.
This is democracy. Unfortunately, Moshiach isn’t here and it isn’t a nation full of Yirei Shomayim yet.
You don’t want to see the march and the pritzus and the leshonos- stay away from the march route and do you shopping elsewhere that day. Should be the worst thing you experience.
But please please please do not make it worse by making a chillul Hashem over it! (Wishful thinking).

  7. @Gadolhadorah – Let me explain things being that you do not live in Israel. I do and I live in Bnei Brak.
    Here’s the facts:
    1. It is not true that there were weekly hafganot. Yes there were Hafganot, but no where near weekly.
    2. Although there were Hafganot, they were almost all of them at the outskirts of the city, not within the cities.
    3. The Hafganot, except for one, were done by Eitznikim. They do not represent the majority of Chareidim.
    4. The Hafganot were all done in Chareidi cities. None were done in Tel Aviv or the like.
    5. The ones most affected by the inconvenience were Chareidi.
    6. The ones most angered by the Hafganot (at least in Bnei Brak) were the Frum residence here. There are many videos of Chareidim dragging protestors off the streets in anger.
    7. This Hafgana is the most brazen one yet. The routes that they plan to take are all major streets in Bnei Brak and their side streets. This basically will place the whole city at a stand still. There are no alternative routes to take. Imaging if the entire NYC would be blocked off not allowing any traffic. This is going to be an incredible mess.
    8. The Liberal media constantly lies brainwashing Chilonim into thinking that religious Jews are evil. This causes unwarranted hatred and animosity towards Chareidim and causes them to act in irrational ways. I will not be surprised if some of these ladies will come in bikinis or even less with intentions to arouse anger.
    9. Chilonim are often shocked at the response of the Chareidim in Bnei Brak. If you look at past hafganot you will see that the Charedim have past out food and drinks to protestors as well as openings up friendly dialog with them changing many protestors’ views of our citizens.

And last point. Isn’t it sad that not only have the leftist media brainwashed our nonreligious brothers to hate us, they have also brainwashed religious people like yourself to hate your brothers. VERY SAD!

  8. Are you religious, people who blithely write ‘We live in a democracy?’ If so, do you allow your children to eat pork? We live in a democracy. Do you allow your children to choose a gender? We live in a democracy. Torah is not about democracy. it’s about doing what Hashem wants. Do you reckon he wants the men of Bnie Barak to have to witness the immodest scenes?

  9. Truefacts, many Jews in the US are fargrebt, they choose so-called “democracy” over kedusha. This situation is due to the influence of social media and general hefkeirus in the US and living s life chasing materialism.

  10. police are anti religious and anti charadim.
courts are anti religious and anti charadim.
seculars are anti religious and anti charadim, and also stupid, as also the two above.

  11. truefacts……doesn’t know what democracy is at all, Torah is pure democracy and so far so few realize this…as stated before may these KKK copy cats rot in gehinnon and may they realize the gift of bareness might just follow their hatred of Hashem…..I could care less of the demise…it isn’t me more my family…..Hashem wants true facts to learn Torah

  12. Voice of reason
YES. IN ISRAEL, CHAREIDI PEOPLE ARE KNOWN FOR EVIL.
    SAD BUT TRUE.
IN America, we’re civil amd nice even of we protest, but in the “Jewish land,” WE the Jews are evil.
If anyone finds it funny and tragic, you’re not alone.
Israel is a safe haven for REAL antisemitism.
    What a tragicomedy!!!

  13. It’s very troubling that the same commentators who have all sorts of vile things to say about charedi protesters,
All of a sudden they are defending hateful protests, just because they are secular and anti religious

  14. Okay everyone, let’s play the same way and get police protection and close off some streets in tel Aviv and the like for half day on none other than what they’d call Saturday…. purely legal and it should help some people from being Mechalel Shabbos

  15. So it seems like the demonstration last night was a non-event. Several thousand (according to ToI) demonstrators showed up, many wearing red tee shirts (covering up to the neck and to the elbow) with various slogans targeting gender discrimination. Several Charedi women set up stands to distribute bottles of water to the demonstrators and seek to engage in civil discourse. There were apparently a fee shouting and shoving incidents but nothing really newsworthy.

  16. My Ruv explained we blame almost all difficulties on the lack of Tsnius (Hashem Yishmor) but sometimes its hard to make the connection.
Here it is obvious. Why did Chilonim come to our area not dressed according to Halacha? It’s because our women are lax in this area. We need to do everything possible (& then some) to make sure our wives & daughters are always dressed in the most Machmir way.

  17. “We need to do everything possible (& then some) to make sure our wives & daughters are always dressed in the most Machmir way”.

Great idea! That would mean that you no longer have to worry about these scandalous Chiloni women demonstrators coming from Tel Aviv since you will have plenty of local bnos yisroel in Bnai Brak engaging in hafganot against their husbands (in the most Machmir way, of course). Don’t be surprised if you find a sleeping bag in your shtender at the Beis Medrash (unless you are allowed to use the sofa in the basement at home).
