Daniela Weiss Placed Under House Arrest

Prominent Yesha leader Daniela Weiss was ordered to house arrested by the Kfar Saba Magistrate’s Court on erev Shabbos. Two other people arrested with her were remanded by the court. The three will face charges of assaulting police and interfering with police in the line of duty.

Weiss is also accused of harboring a person who police believe may have set a nearby Arab olive field ablaze. She denies the allegations being leveled against her, which stem from a fire blamed on Shomron residents, reportedly a retaliatory attack for the destruction of the Shvut Ami outpost in the area on 2 October, which residents of the outpost vow to rebuild.

Weiss, a former mayor of the Shomron community of Kedumim, also accuses police and the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) of working to incite the public sentiment against the settlers, inline with the policies of the government.

She claims it was the GSS which planted the small pipe bomb that lightly injured Jerusalem resident Professor Ze’ev Sternhell (reported HERE on YWN), an Israel Prize laureate known for his vehement disdain for residents of Yehuda and Shomron. Weiss explains this is all part of the ongoing effort to turn the public against the right-wing.

Weiss told the daily Haaretz it was the Shin Bet, stating “no settler would commit such an act.”
