Israel: High Court Chief Justice Wants Complaints Orally, Not Written

Seeking to bring a halt to leaks to the press, Supreme Court Chief Justice Dorit Beinish has sent a memo to the heads of lower courts, requesting that complaints be brought to her attention orally, and not in writing. She told the heads of the nation’s courts that this is the only solution at present to prevent letters from making their way to the press.

Beinish’s directive was prompted by a letter recently leaked to Yediot Achronot. The letter was sent to her by the chief justice of the Tel Aviv District Court and his deputy, addressing their objections to a new policy decision implemented by Moshe Gal, the director of the court system.
