Mounting Complaints Against Shai District Cops from Yehuda & Shomron Residents

Police accuse residents of Yehuda and Shomron of using the system to launch a war against them as there are a growing number of complaints being filed against Shai (Shomron & Yehuda) District police. Residents reject the accusation, stating the complaints are the result of the abuse endured as a result of inappropriate behavior of policemen.

Police explain that the settlers are aware that opening a complaint file against a policeman results in an investigation in the best of circumstances, and at times could hold up a promotion or have other negative consequences on ones career. Police add that since they are sent to deal with unauthorized outposts and prevent violence against Arabs at checkpoints, settlers are using the complaints as a form of retaliation.

Orit Struk, a Chevron resident and head of a Yesha human rights watchdog organization rejects the statements by police, adding the number of complaints filed against police is negligible, adding the complaints that are filed are indeed legitimate.

The Justice Ministrys Police Investigation Unit reports receiving about 2,000 complaints annually, of which approximately 20% result in a criminal indictment or disciplinary action against police personnel.

  1. The use of EXTREMELY excessive violence and brutality by police against Jewish men, women, boys, and girls is something I know of first hand and is well documented on many video tapes of many events. It is an absolute disgrace that a supposedly Jewish police force in a supposedly Jewish state can behave they way they do toward other Jews. It is a pity that arab complaints against them are taken so much more seriously than Jewish complaints.
