SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Five Israelis were lightly injured by rocks on the Hussan Bypass Road near Betar Illit in the Gush Etzion district.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*A Sefer Torah dedication will be held on Sunday in the Netiv Aryeh Yeshiva in memory of IDF soldier Uri Grossman HY”D, who fell in the line of duty during the Second Lebanon War shortly before his 21st birthday. His father, Dovid, arranged for the writing of the Sefer Torah, which was made possible through the generosity of American philanthropist Ira Rennert.

*During a meeting on Sunday with an Israeli Arab delegation, outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert stated during his tenure he tried to do much to bring about an end to the longtime discrimination against Israeli Arabs.

*The Akko Magistrate’s court remanded the Jewish suspect in the Akko arson attack against an Arab home for eight days.

*Chief Rabbis Yona Metzger and Shlomo Amar called on Akko residents to stop the rioting and confrontations, expressing sorrow that the violence also occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year.

*A complaint has been filed against the Porush for Jerusalem mayor campaign for distributing food and drinks during a visit to Machane Yehuda on Sunday. Election law prohibits such an act during one’s election campaign. The complaint was filed by a secular left-wing Jerusalem Councilman Sa’ar Netanel.

*The Yisrael Beitenu Party is endorsing Nir Barkat’s bid for the Jerusalem mayoral seat.

*The opening of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange was delayed on Sunday morning due to heavy losses reported before the day’s trading began.
