The Saudi news channel Al-Hadath is reporting that the remains of legendary Israeli spy Eli Cohen, who operated deep inside Syria in the 1960s, may soon be returned to Israel.
Cohen was captured and executed by the Syrian regime in 1965 and buried in Damascus. For decades, successive Israeli governments have appealed to the Assad regime to allow his body to be brought home, but those requests have consistently been denied.
The report has not been independently confirmed and offers no additional information on when or how the transfer might take place.
