Over 10,000 Containers Backlogged in the Port of Haifa

Haifa Port officials reported on Wednesday that 6,800 containers are backlogged on the port due to Chol Hamoed. An additional 3,500 are waiting handling in a nearby storage facility.

Yoav Margalit reports that heavy storage charges are incurred for containers after four days, stating the Chol Hamoed vacation has resulted in a serious backlog.

He explained the port is uninterested in demanding these charges, calling on the owners of the containers to claim them as quickly as possible to permit the port to return to regular operating conditions.
