Akko Hesder Yeshiva Fire was an Arson Attack

fire9_m.jpgPolice investigators on Sunday afternoon stated with certainty that the blaze that destroyed an office of the Akko Hesder Yeshiva on motzei Shabbos was the result of arson. The yeshiva’s Rabbi Yossi Stern explains a front window was smashed and investigators found the remains of a firebomb, which is attributed with starting the fire.

Rav Stern stated that from his perspective, the damage was light, praising the quick response of firefighters, preventing the spread of the fire to the beis medrash and the Aaron Kodesh.

Rav Stern adds that the yeshiva represents six years of chessed and community service, pointing out that since the race riots began on Yom Kippur, the yeshiva has been on vacation and uninvolved in any way.

Security cameras have captured some of the events on video and police are indicating there are a number of suspects in the arson attack.
